Products with keys need to be operable with one hand. This standard applies to other products with keys such as keypad entry devices, printers, scanners, keyboards, information transaction machines, phones and pagers.

Section 508 technical standard 1194.23 (k)
Products which have mechanically operated controls or keys, shall comply with the following:
  • Controls and keys shall be operable with one hand and shall not require tight grasping, pinching, or twisting of the wrist. The force required to activate controls and keys shall be 2.3 kgs. (22.2 Newtons) maximum.
