People with vision impairments cannot access products and software that only provide visual information. In this image, a man is lost but cannot get map information as only visual information is provided at the kiosk. This kiosk could be used by people with vision impairments if it provided audio feedback or tactile information to the user, or supported assistive technology. This standard applies to information transaction machines, multifunction devices, pagers, conventional phones (wired or cordless), software (office applications, educational software, and PC operating systems), and retinal scanners.
