Text description: Screen Magnifying Lens Demo

This is an optical device that fits over a standard computer display to enlarge the contents of the screen for people with low vision.

1. Frame A. Introduction.
   
   

   Show a person looking at a computer monitor that has very tiny text on the screen (shown as lines). The person is leaning towards the screen, squinting and cannot see the text. The caption reads: "The screen magnifying lens is a device that fits over a standard computer display to enlarge the contents of the screen for people with low vision."

2. Frame B. Magnifying Lens.
   
   

   When the mouse is moved over or clicked on the monitor, the text becomes enlarged and reads: "Today's e-mail". The person is also seen relaxing in their chair, no longer squinting. The caption reads: "The lens will dramatically increase the size of lettering on the screen so a person with low vision can read comfortably."

3. Frame C. Monitor.
   
   

   The screen of the monitor now animates the standard brightness and contrast controls. The caption reads: "Monitor brightness and contrast should be adjustable. Less stress is placed on the eyes if the monitor brightness roughly matches other sources of visual information such as documents. The monitor should be placed so that there is no reflection from windows or other sources of light."

4. Frame D. Line of Vision.
   
   

   This picture illustrates a comfortable viewing height and distance from the user. The caption reads: "The monitor should be placed so that the top of the screen is horizontal to the user's line of vision. If the computer is used at different heights (i.e., sit/stand) then the monitor should be on an adjustable or swivel arm stand"
